Ao Phra Nang and Ao Railey
Some
call this bay Ao Tham Phra Nang, but the residents
of the area call it Ao Phra Nang. From the nearest
point of the city, it takes only 45 minutes by long
tail boat from Chao Fah Pier in Muang district in
Krabi tow or 15 minutes from A Nang Pier. Thai bay
is filled with delicate white sand and embraced by
crystal clear water that one can see the sand on the
seabed. Though it is very far from the mainland, the
bay faces the open sea, so the sediment that is swept
away from the mainland cannot pollute this bay. Ao
Phra Nang is hence a delicate sandy beach with clear
and clean water that is close to the shore. Tourists
can visit bay all year round.
Ao Nang is a beach on
the mainland in Ao Nang district whereas Ao Phra Nang
is a bay on the tip of the cape parted by high limestone
mountains and accessible only by boat.
An important feature
of Ao Phra Nang is location of the Phra Nang Cave,
comprises 2 parts; the outer cave is adjacent to the
beach. One can walk into it since it is not deep,
and there is no growth of stalagmites and stalactites,
or with little of it since there is no air and light
reaching it. For the inner Phra Nang Cave, one has
to walk through the outer one. To enter east Railey
Bay, this cave has a long chamber. Hat Nopparat Thara
and Mu Ko Phi Phi National Park have included this
cave into the park. A trail to study the cave with
installed electricity inside has been made, too.
Railey Bay, which is
close to Phra Nang, and 2 sides the Eastern Railey
Bay and the Western Railey. Not only in the map but
also visible in the real location, Ao Phra Nang has
a beautiful beach, clear water, white sand whereas
the eastern one is well known for its outdoor activities,
especially the world-famous activity like rock climbing.
It is surrounded by eye - catching cliffs. Rock climbing
here is well known worldwide. Many foreigners come
for this challenging activity. There is a number of
rock climbing schools in the area.
At all 3 bays, some
other activities beside swimming sunbathing and rock
climbing are cave tours, climbing down the cliff,
kayaking around for appreciating the beautiful view,
which one can do all year round.
